ENDORSEMENT

Courtney’s book is a clarion call to wake up the church to the Great Task–of shining the light of hope in Christ to the world. In this world of entertainment based, self-service assemblies without focus, led by CEOs rather than pastors — God still calls His people to reach the nations. I strongly recommend pastors, directors of missions, and denominational leaders read Time Out and evaluate what kind of churches they have before them—and make the adjustments needed to go where God is leading.

God has a purpose for His Church in the world. His vision is a multitude from every nation, all tribes, peoples and languages, standing in worship before His throne and before the Lamb. His mission among humanity is to gather this great multitude that no one could number for worship. The Church' is the strategy He is using to gather the great multitude. For this reason the Church must always be strategic and purposeful in its approach to completing the mission.

IS YOUR CHURCH MOVING?

A group of first grade boys gathered around the black and neon green caterpillar.  They wanted to know whether it was alive or dead.  After examining the caterpillar, most of them concluded it was dead. 'It is not moving!' ringleader Noah said.

"How do you know it is dead?" asked McGlen. Without even looking up, Noah spoke up, "Is it moving? If it is not moving that means it is dead!" They left the motionless caterpillar to go to their class.  Later that day the boys discovered the caterpillar was moving, only an army of ants was moving it.
"It’s moving! The caterpillar is moving!" joked one boy. The first graders came running to see the miracle. As they gazed at the caterpillar in motion Noah announced, "But it’s still dead."

The Church

The circle model of Church illustrates the inclusiveness of Christ’s body. The outside circle represents Christ. His body comprises members whom the Father draws to Himself (John 6:44). Christ connects them to one another in His body (Romans 12:5). Every member is on the same level. No one is more important than the other. In the body, Christ gives all these ordinary members gifts to use to accomplish the body’s mission.
